National Candlelight Vigil 2008

On November 1st, 2008 at 8 pm a National Candlelight Vigil was held once again at City Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for Medical Cannabis Patients deceased and living.

This Candlelight Vigil was officially PhillyNORML's fifth event and Universal Arts, Inc. was honored to be there like always. We feel it refreshing to meet and share our interests and concerns.

In the course of a few hours we talked amongst ourselves and the Medical Marijuana Movement.

Together we informed and encouraged a few visitors of Rittenhouse Square to get involved and show their support.

Although our Candlelight Vigil may've seemed somewhat small in appearance with only a few dozen candles being lit in the park, William Haney assured everyone that our message for Medical Cannabis Reform was being spread far and wide.

The badges we wore were designed by Artist Jean Hanamoto, a member of Wo/Men's Alliance for Medical Marijuana.

WAMM's co-founder/director Valerie Corral, while speaking with William on the phone, said that she would light a candle at the exact same time, 5PM PST in Santa Cruz, California symbolizing unity, harmony and liberty. Cher McCullough from Compassionate Moms in Kentucky also did the same..
.

William Haney would like to thank everyone he contacted by e-mail and/or phone for their participation in this event. No matter how big or small their part, they helped make this event national.

Universal Arts, Inc. also feels strongly that each state should decide whether to allow medically diagnosed patients with conditions for which cannabis is a recognized palliative to have access to that medicine.

We would like to say that PhillyNORML did not show for this event and for giving us this opportunity to further our campaign. We hope that in the future both our organizations can come together and form an alliance to voice our support for Medical Freedom.
